Woot! Glad this weekend is over, just seemed like I will have to take the time to recover from the schedule we had this week. My hubby and I went to one of our favorite restaurants for “not so great for you food” for Father’s Day and had a great meal with plenty of leftovers to bring home. There is a method to that madness because that means we won’t have to cook today at least.
Been a busy week. I had a few projects that I had to finish up that were of a domestic nature as well as some other things to do. Not to mention, we have officially started our annual Fire Season here in our state with high winds and I think we have three fires going at the moment. None close to where we live currently, however, we do have friends and family that live in those areas there were evacuated out of their homes due to the fire danger. Other states have to endure a lot with tornadoes, hurricanes and other natural calamities whereas our norm is always fires and heavy snow at different times to the year.
After living in a home for the better part of thirty years, you tend to accumulate quite a bit of “stuff” which can be rather daunting when you decide to rid yourself such treasures. My husband is a packrat, so, my task is always made a bit difficult with the constant “We might need that someday” kind of thing that goes on between a couple. I’m one of those people that if I don’t use something within a year, out it goes. So, not all of the projects that I wanted to do in that area have been completed yet, however, I will continue on with it during the rest of the summer months.
I also took a major break from World of Warcraft and writing while I was involved with other things. I was too tired to log in and most of the time, probably not in the best frame of mind to deal with a lot of things. No, I didn’t take a “big” break, however, not even logging in for anything in about three days is very unusual for me. I also was doing some looking around at other games.
I will have to admit that I did find one that kept me pretty well entertained and will continue to do so in the future after a heavy investment of time and money to learn the thing all over again. I used to play any and all of the Sims games that were available prior to my addiction to World of Warcraft. I only loaded the game and expansions on one of my computers and that was pretty damned time consuming.
After seeing several screen shots posted on WordPress of my old favorite game, I decided that I would go take a look at what had changed in the game in the last few years. Of course, the computers that I have currently are far superior to the machines that I originally played on, which made a huge difference. Not to mention, your biggest expense is purchasing the expansions as you move through the game without a monthly fee involved – which is a welcomed change. Had an awesome time playing and being able to pause the game periodically for those phone calls that come in. So, don’t be surprised if a Sims picture shows up now and again in a blog – not often because I’m still learning that facet of that particular game.
The other added thing that I had on plate for the last four or five days is also trying to quit another physical addiction. If you’ve followed my blogs at all, you know that my main likes to have a cigarette or two while he’s writing in his journals – well, the person behind the keyboard is very much like that and is trying to quit smoking, yet again. I think that I have tried every method under the sun trying to get myself away from the filthy habit because it is very unhealthy for me. I’m working on the theory that a lot of my other physical ailments will dissipate once I get the nicotine out of my system. What is my success rate so far – nada. However, I have changed a few things that will make it less likely that I will be chain smoking while I am sitting at my computer writing or playing video games. I also live with an ex-smoker which has made things a bit interesting at times.
However, it’s now time to get back into my MMO of choice and reconnect with the friends I still have in the game. I will admit that it did feel rather odd not logging into WoW every single day, however, I’m sure that the game will feel a bit fresher after a few days away. I’ve been at this wonderful game for eight years without taking a break in my subscriptions, however, it felt good to not feel compelled to log in and do fifty zillion dailies for a change. While some of the other games that I tried this week offer a similar social contact with other players, I’m not into Facebook, Twitter and I detest Skype with a passion – if I wanted to “talk” to you verbally, I’d call you on the bloody phone or invite you to the house.
I also downloaded Starcraft, the free trial version, which is the very first Blizzard game that I was exposed too and have dinked around with that a bit. This is not meant to be an insult to anyone, however, “Rednecks” in space always makes me giggle and I’m one of those Rednecks with the long bloodline back to prove it. Of course my son is looking at me strangely since he knows how much I love World of Warcraft, however, there are times that I need to step away from that for a bit.
So, let’s see if I got it covered now:
House Cleaning – work in progress – sometimes thoughts of a can of gas and a match cross my mind.
Sims3 – work in progress and feeling like a Noob
Friends Wellness Check – completed and all accounted for in RL
Starcraft – work in progress and much giggling as I kill myself by stupid means.
Smoking Cessation – work in progress – Mood swings that make Sybil look sane. Cessation goal date is August 1st – not going cold turkey just yet. Actually quit before for eight years and started again – stupid move on my part.
Writing – work in progress and blogs yet unpublished for the time being.
I honestly don’t know why I wrote all of this down and published it except for those that might have missed me in World of Warcraft. or follow my blogs. Now, it’s time for me to get back in the saddle and start doing my “thing” again. So, off I go to edit and start publishing my completed materials over the next few days.
