OOC – Flying In Draenor … Finally

March 13th

I am happy to announce that I finally got my Pathfinder in Draenor and I can already tell that it is going to make life so much easier for my other characters to level and to get their achievements completed.  Poor Fnor is worn-out from Treasure Hunting for the last three days.  Got the achievement on March 12th at 4:00 p.m. my time and promptly checked it all out to see if it really worked for both factions – then I took a nap and a long break.

Oh yeah, stupid hit me rather hard.  Busted my backside in Tanaan running around on the ground and getting some of the reps done finally.  I’ll admit that I did cheat a bit and purchased a few medallions to press the attack harder and it all finally paid off.  Well, I’m sitting there with the Draenor Diplomat and no Pathfinder when everything seemed to be done.  Unfortunately, I thought that most of the stuff with the exception of the Tanaan reps were shared, however, they are not – the Treasure Hunting is not a shared thing, darn it.  So, I was a bit shy in that department and went back to searching for them even though I was totally frustrated at that point.  Took three days to finish it all up and had to take frequent breaks because my eyes are not what they used to be and would get extremely tired.  Luckily, all of my characters on my main Bnet Account are able to fly in Draenor now – now, I have to be sadistic and get it on my other Bnet Account – I think I kind of enjoy the fact on my alt account that I have to earn some of the achievements all over again.  At least I’m not in a huge hurry to get all of that completed either.

I never was a fan of jumping puzzles and never really got into Mario all that much and after this latest experiment of Blizzard’s Dev Staff, I’m not looking forward to having to go through the same stuff with Legion.  I’m all set for Legion and looking forward to it, however, I hope it doesn’t take me a year to get flying.  I got spoiled with the other expansions and loved the carrot for hitting level cap and this new meta achievement just isn’t my cup of tea, however, if that’s what we have to do, then that’s how it is.  I suppose we should just be thankful that we were able to put enough pressure on Blizzard to get flying at all with this expansion and future ones.  I thought the whole thing was silly and it cost them quite a few subscriptions from what I can gather – I know fewer of my old friends are not playing any longer and aren’t planning on coming back, which makes me rather sad.

My next plan of attack at fun will be trying to get some of my old favorites to Draenor, especially my druids and shamans.  I’ve missed playing them on a regular basis and now that the door is finally open for them, I’m going to be jumping around like an idiot for a few days.  My DKs are going to take some work and getting used to again because a lot of changes have been made to the Unholy spec and I haven’t researched it all that much yet.  Oh sure, I could have started moving them out of Pandaria months ago but I’m not really into that kind of torture when I’m real attached to some of them.

I just can’t imagine not being able to take flight and escape death on Mooma, my elderly Tauren Druid,  and having to watch her die a horrible death.  She was my very first Druid ever and I really enjoyed playing her when I had the chance.  No, she never has been a main and probably never will be but I will always have a soft spot for her. I play Balance on the majority of the Druid class, just for the versatility that it gives me when I’m questing and occasionally getting brave enough to venture into a dungeon or raid.  I do have all of the heirlooms on my second account now, so, that makes it easier to level and not get booted out for not having them.  I was a little bit surprised at that the first time it happened, however, I am beginning to understand that the player base has changed a lot in the last few years.

Nope, still haven’t passed the Proving Grounds yet and it isn’t because I don’t know how to play my classes, it’s because it’s timed and my hand/eye coordination isn’t what it used to be.  I’m just not fast enough to beat that damned timer – get real close and get fumble-fingered.  Oh well, I guess I didn’t want to run the Draenor dungeons all that much.  I hope that they don’t do the same thing with Legion because I do hate being excluded from stuff that I have paid for.   Yep, gonna try the “naked” run at it and see what happens sometime in the future to see if that really works.

Well, another year has flown by and it’s Daylight Savings Time again.  I used to think that it was the bane of existence when I was working because that hour that I lost always seemed to bite me by the late afternoon.  I don’t think I ever really adjusted to it until right before it ended and I went back to Standard Time.  Oh well, now that I am retired, I can just change the clock and let my body take care of the rest of it because I’m not rushed to go anywhere anyway. Neener, neener, I’m old enough to do what I want to do anyway when I want.

  1. Congratulations on flying! Best thing ever. Yeah, that flying debacle was the only time I ever unsubbed and boy was I nervous waiting to see if they’d reverse their decision before it ran out, lol.

Who is your main? If you have a Feral Druid that proving grounds was not bad at least as far as silver, I haven’t tried any other of my classes because it would have to be REALLY easy for any of them to stubble through. It was pretty much make sure everything has a bleed on it and don’t get caught in the goo.

    • It did seem like it was going to take forever and a day to get the flying and now that I have it, I’m definitely having a whole lot more fun and will be leveling up other characters in the near future. My actual main for the last eleven years has been Fnor – hunter.

I’ll go back and do the Proving Grounds one of these days. What I think is keeping me from completing it is the fact that my hand/eye coordination is not as good as it used to be – add the timer and you have an arthritic person just going bonkers.

    • It took quite a while getting all of the treasures and that was the frustrating part because I wasn’t using addons for it until the last five or six. LOL don’t think I’ll torture myself like that again for a while. Thank you for putting up with all of the whining in the Guild Chat.
